Problem of the Week for February 14th
Carlos bought Streamers to hang around the edges of the gym. He bought 2 black rolls and 2 white rolls. Each roll is 75 feet long. The gym is 100 feet wide. if Carlos needs to buy another 2 rolls of streamers to cover the perimeter of the gym, how long is the gym?

I added 75 4 times and got 300. Pluse 2 more streamers =450feet -100is the width of the gym=350 is the length.
well 75 ft of streamers multiplied by 4,(the 2 white rolls+the 2 black rolls)is 300 feet of streamers. Then for the 2 walls that are 100 ft, that would be 300 ft-200 ft, leaving 100 ft left. If he buys 2 more(which is 150 ft of streamers), he will have a total of 250 ft of streamers left.Half of 250 ft of streamers is 125 ft which means the wall lengths are 125+125+100+100=450 ft of streamers.
To solve this problem I first did 4 times 75. I got 300 then you subtract 200 from 300 which is 100. Then 2 times 75 equals 150 and you add that to 100 and you get 250 you divide that by 2 and you should get 125 for the length of the gym.
So the first thing i did was i added 2 blak rolls and 2 white rolls anad i got 4 rolls then i did 75 ft x 4 rolls and got 300ft so now he has to buy 2 more rolsthen he now has 450ft so a possible answer would be for the other two sides of the gym would be 125 each and the whole prementer would be....450ft aronud the gym.
To find the perimeter of the gym you need to multiply 8x75.

My answer is 225ft long. I got this answer by ...
* adding the number of rolls of streamers Carlos bought.
* then I multiplied that sum by 75 ft ( the length of the sreamers in each roll.)
I then knew that the width was 100 ft, so I subtracted that from what the total perimeter was and then divided that by 2.
First, I added how many rolls there were. There were 2 black rolls plus 2 white rolls for a total of 4 rolls. Add in the 2 more rolls Carlos needs, and you have a total rollage of 6 rolls. Multiply that by 75ft. of streamers in each roll, and you have 450 feet of streamers which is the perimeter. Then I consulted my formula. (2w+2l=p) If the perimeter is 450 feet, then the length of the 2 width sides is 200 feet. Take that away from the perimeter, and you have 250 feet left. There are 2 other sides of equal length, so I divided by 2 to get the length of the gym, which was 125 feet.
The answer is 450ft.

Since Carlos brought 4 rolls of streamers I multiplied it like this:75x4=300. He needs 2 more so I added those to 300 which I got 450. That is the whole perimeter. I subtracted that by 200ft since the width is 100 on each side. The answer was 250ft. Then I divided it up by 2 and got 125. That is how long the gym is. My final answer is 125ft.

75+75=150 which is 2 rolls he buys another 2 rolls and that is 300 hundred ft long. The gym is is 100 ft long and that means that the lenght of the gym is 225.
Answer statement : The gym is 125 feet long.
Operation: I got my answer by multiplying 6 rolls of streamers and 75ft to get the total amount of streamers he bought and gt the total of 450feet long of streamers. Then I subtracted 100 twice bease we already know the number of feet for the width. After I subtracted that I had 250 feet of streamers left and the divided it by 2 to find the length/longness of the gym.
Strategy : My strategy was to work it backwards. I did 100+100+125+125 = 450 , so I knew that my answer is correct.
The gym is 450 feet long when you do 75times six you get your answer of 450 feet long

First I wrote down all of the important information that I needed to know in order to solve the problem. Next, I drew a figure that looked like the gym and labeled each side that was the width with 100 ft. Next, I multiplied the 75 ft. per roll times 4 rolls. I got 300. I added 100 plus 100 from each side to get 200 and then subtracted that from 300 to get 100 ft. Then, I added 75 ft. per roll plus 75 ft. per roll to get the half of the amount of streamer needed. When I added that I got 150 and then added that to the 100 ft. that I added and subtracted from to. When I did that I got 250 ft. Last, I divided 250 by two to get the amount of feet for each side of the gym.
The answer is 300 because she bought 75 rolls 4 times witch is 300 rolls.
I got this answer by multiplying 75 4 times.

Finally, to get my answer, I divided 250 ft. by 2(opposite sides) and got 125 ft.

The length of all 4 rolls is 300ft, if Carlos uses 200ft of it( Both sides.)and buys another 150ft (2 rolls.)that means he has 250ft. If you put that on two walls(Divide by two.)each wall would get 125ft of it.So each wall is 125feet.

You do 6 times 75 and get 450 [for all the rolls and how much for each roll] It says the length of the gym is 100, then you take that from 450 and get 350. 350 is the answer.
I will add up all the rolls(6x75=450) and then from that I will subtract (100+100=200) 200 (450-200=250) to get rid of the width and leave only length. Finally, to get my answer I will divide 250 by 2, (250 divided by 2=125) which is 125 to get my answer.ANSWER=125

First you would need to figure out the length put together of the first 2 rolls which is 150 then you add 2 more rolls and do 75 times 4 = 300 ft. long which is the perimeter of the gym.
The perimeter is 450 because if he has to buy 6 rolls of streamers at 75 feet long, multiply 75 x 6 which equals 450.
