she had animals and her animals has 20 heads and 70 legs so I did 5 chickens times 2 =10 and 15 times 4 =60 the 10 + 60 = 70

I got animals because if you get 20 divided by ten equals ten plus 70 divided by two equals 35 altogether equals 45.

Fairst i divided 4 legs from 70 becuase cows have 4 legs,i got 17 R.2.then i divided 2 from 70 because a chicken has 2 legs,then i got 35.Then i added 1 because the cow has R,2 and a chicken has 2 legs.Then i divided 20.They both have 1 head so i put 10 on these side and 10 on the other.Next i divided the total # os cows by 4 i got 6r3,divided the totle # of ck. by 2 and got 23.

Knowing that Fiona has 20 head, I know that she has 20 animals. I know that cows have 4 legs and chickens have 2. With that information, I discovered that Fiona must have 15 cows and 5 chickens, that would give us 70 legs. The way I found that out was by multiplying 15 x 4, whuch gave me 60, and 5 x 2, which gave me 10. When you add those answers, you get 70 legs. Your answer is 15 cows and 5 chickens.

1. First, I made a chart of heads and legs
2. Second, I put cows all the way to head 11 which gave me 48 legs
3. Third, I put one chicken so I could get a number that I could find things out easier with
4. I found out that I had 8 slots left, I found out taht i could fit 2 cows and 1 chicken to get 60 legs and 15 heads
5. I had 10 legs left and 5 heads, ten divided by 5 gives you two, so I put in 5 chickens
6. Finally I came up with

14 cows & 6 chickens

Split the groups up in to 4ths then put 3 4ths cows and 1 4th chickens to get 20 and 70.

20*3=60 and 2 heads*2 feet=10

So you end up with 15 cows and 5 chickens

Answer: Cows= 15 Chickens=5

For this problem I started out by multiplying starting from 10 and went on and on until I multplied 15 by 4 and 5 by 2 and ended up with 60 and 10 which equal 70, the amount of total legs. Then I took 15 and five and that gave me the amount of animals in each catagory, so i eneded up with 15 cows and 5 chickens.

First, I divide 20 by 2,which gave me 10. Then I divide 70 by 4 to get 17.5,the .5 percent counts the tail.

1.20 divided by 2=10
2.70 divided by 4=17.5

Farmer Fiona has 15 cows and 5 chickens. All I did was guess and check. I started out with 10 cows and 10 chickens, that was 60 legs. Until we got 14 cows and 6 chickens. Total legs was 68, so we did 15 cows and 5 chickens. which was 70 legs.

10 cows and 15 chickens.
I solved the problem by writing
1 cow-4 legs chicken-2 legs
Then I guessed and checked.30 and 40 equals 70.30 divided by 2 equals 15 chickens and 40 divided by 4 equals 10 cows.

The answer is 15 cows and 5 chickens. I got this answer by first dividing 70 by 4 and getting 17 cows and 1 chicken, but that wouldn't work so it would be 18 heads. So I needed 2 more heads so I took that 2 from the 17 heads and did 15 times 4 would give you 60 legs and 15 heads for the cows. Then you need 10 heads so 10 divided by 2 is 5 so five chickens and that is the answer.

i know there are 20 animals and all together they have 70 legs so i just guessed 6 cows and 12 chickensand that gave me 68 so i knew i only needed 2 more legs so i replaced a chicken with a cow and added that and got the answer 70 so my final answer was 5 cows and 10 chickens.

Chickens have 2 legs and have 1 head. Cows have 4 legs and 1 head.
There are 20 animals because each animal has 1 head and there are 20 heads.
I divided 70 by 4 because there are 70 legs and 4 legs on a cow. The quotient was 17 remainder 2. This means that there are 17 cows and 1 chicken because a chicken has 2 legs and there were two legs left after I divided.

There are 5 chickens and 15 cows. I got that answer by making a chart.

first, there is 4legs on acow so I found out how many cows are in 70 legs. The answer was 17remainder2 and there is 2legs so take the remainder wich is 2 and divide by the number of leg on a chiken wich is 2 and the answer is 1.there is 1head on any animal and there is 17 cows and 1chiken so I added those numbers together and I got 18heads.But I need 20heads so Itook out cows and replaced each cow with 2hens because there is 4legs on a cow and 2legs on a chiken so 4legs are replaced with 2,2leg wich is the same number as 4. when I subtracted 3cows, and added 4chikens, I got 20heads so this is the answer.
70/4=17r2
2/2=1
17+1=18
17-3=14
3*4=12
12/2=6
14+6=20

5 chickens and 15 cows
---------------------
the # of chickens and cows added together has to equal twenty. the # of chickens times the # of legs added to the # of cows times the # of legs has to equal 70.

It would be 15 cows and 5 chickens because 15x4 would equals 60 plus 5x2 would be 10 so 60 plus 10 would be 70 legs. And 15 plus 5 would be 20 heads.

70 legs

Farmer Fiona has _15_ cows and _5_ chickens

My Answer: The answer I got was 15 cows with 60 legs and 5 chickens with 10 legs. This combination would get 70 legs and 20 heads. I got this answer by first doing guess and check till I got to 15 cows multiplied by 4 because cows have 4 legs this would be 60 legs and 15 heads. Then I guess and checked till I got 5 chickens and multiplied this by 2 because chickens have 2 legs and got 5 heads and 10 legs. Then I added 60 legs from the cows and 10 legs from the chicken which would be 70 legs. Last I added 15 heads from the cows and 5 heads from the chicken and I got 20 heads. My answer would be 15 cows an 5 chickens.

If there are 20 heads in Fiona’s farm that means there are 20 animals. to figure this out I used the guess and check method. Let’s say I guess we have 15 cows and 5 chickens than I multiply 15 cows times the 4 legs each cow has and then I get 60. Then I multiply 5 chickens times 2 legs a chicken and get 10 I add 10 and 60 to get 70.

ibrahim mohammed said...

what i would do is that 15 cows and 5 chickins its means 20 heads in all each cow should have 4 legs 15 cows x 4 = 60 and each chicken should have 2 legs x 5=10

SO 60+10=70

Anabel W- Young said...

First I did 10 cows x 4 legs = 40 legs.Then I did 8 chickens x 2 legs = 16 legs.Then I added 40 legs + 16 legs = 56 legs.
Next I kept going and got 62 legs,64 legs,66 legs,and 68 legs.
Then I did 15 cows x 4 legs = 60 legs and 5 chickens x 2 legs = 10 legs so I added 60 legs + 10 legs =70 legs.

So the answer I got was she has 15 cows and 5 chickens.

so what i did is it said there is 20 heads and 70 legs, so i did half of 20 which is 10 and multiplied it by 2 for chickens which is 20, and then multiplied 10 x 4 legs for the cow, which is 40 and added them together and got 60 legs. after that, i tried 11 x 2 and 9 x4 and figured out that i was going the wrong way. i ended up with 5 heads x 2 legs for the chickens which equal 10, and 15 heads x 4 legs for the cows each which equal 60. So 10 legs with 5 head plus 60 legs with 15 heads equal 70 legs on 20 heads. that means 5 chickens and 15 cows.

First I added 20heads to 70 legs,
then I got 90heads and legs.
Second I divided 90 by 2 and got 45.
Third I divided 90 by 4 and got
22r2.
Third I added 45 to 22r2 and got
69legs.
Fourth I divided that by 4 and got
18legs.
Fifth I divided that by 2 and got
9.

Answer: 9animals

cows- 4 legs x □
chickens- 2 legs x ■

1. □ + ■ = 20
2. 4x□ + 2x■ = 70

■= 20-□
4x□ + 2x(20-□)=70
1) 2x20=40, 2x□
4x□ + 40-2x□ = 70
*number that you know need to go to back and change a mathematcal symbal to opposite one.

4x□ - 2x□ = 70-40
= 2x□ = 70-40 (30)
2x□=30, 2/30 = 15

□ = 15 [cow]
■ = 5 (■=20-□) [chicken]

She has 15 cows and 5 chickens.

15x4=60 cows legs
5x2=10 chicken legs
60+10=70 legs altogether
15 cows and 5 chickens
since I knew their were 20 chickens and cows in the farm, and altogether they have 70 legs, and 20 heads, I kept trying different numbers and multiplied them by 4, to find how many cows she has. 15 was the right number for the cows. Since 15 cows have 60 legs, I subtracted 60 from 70, and that is 10, and I divided 10 by 2 and I got 5 chickens.

first a cow has four legs and a chicken has 2. So I multiplied 15 cows times 4 lags each and got 60. Then I multiplied 5 chickens times 2 legs each and got 10. Then I added 60 and 10 and got 70.
