Supermarket Grand Opening

It is the grand opening of a local supermarket.  Every 5th customer will receive a coupon for a free turkey and every 7th customer will receive a coupon for a free half-gallon of ice cream.  If 100 customers come in on opening day, how many will get a free turkey and a free half gallon of ice cream?

first I did 5 times 10 and got 50 so 5 times 20 is 100 people.Then I7 times 10 is 70 and so 4 times 7 is 28 and I adid it and got 14 terkes.

so you get 20 terkes and 14 ice cream

The answer is 20 free turkeys and 14 free half gallons of ice cream. I got this answer by just multiplying until i got to 100 for five then went as high as possible with the seven. That is how I got my answer. Thanks so much.

I got 70 people who but the half gallon of milk and 30 people for the free turkey because 7x10=70 and 5x6=30 add it up and you have 100.

100/5=20 so 20 people get a coupon for a free turkey

100/7=14 and 2 remainder so 14 people get a coupon for a free half gallon of ice cream.

first, I divided 5 out of a hundred, and then I divided 7 out of a hundred so I could get the number of people that would get coupons

5/100=20

7/100=14

14 will get a free half gallon of ice cream.

20 will get a free turkey.

There are a total of 2 customers that will get both a free turkey and a free 1/2 gallon of ice cream. That is because only 35 and 70 out of 100 people is divisible by 5 and 7. So, only the 35th and 70th customers will get both.

To find the approxamite amount of people that will get a coupon, I divided. I first divided the 7th customer from 100 total customers and got 14 coupons. Then, I divided the 5th customer by 100 customers total and got 20 customers. I then added my 2 final answers and got 34 coupons.

500 customers because 100 time 5 = 500

100 people / 5 = 20 people who get a tukey
100 people / 7 = 14 people who get ice cream

Only two people, customer # 35 and customer # 70 get both a free turkey AND free ice cream, which are the only 2 numbers that are multiples of both 5 and 7 up to 100.
